The latest release from Friction’s Shogun Audio label presents two nicely contrasting tracks, available on 12” and also mp3. Tripwire, on the A side, is a snarling and heavily layered tech roller, with sharp staccato beats, deep sub bass and angry reese accents, real peak time energetic stuff. On the flip, The Rain is more of a thinker; swooning atmospherics and crescendos layered up with classic Rockwell styled minimal beat programming, creating a real sense of claustrophobic tension.
